Understanding it

A closer look at lip enhancement.

A Modern Approach to Lip Enhancement

Lip treatment today is about balance rather than volume. The goal is lips that suit your face at rest and in movement: a defined border, an even distribution between upper and lower lip, and a natural sense of hydration.

Our injectors work conservatively and in stages. Building gradually across visits protects the tissue, keeps the result proportionate and avoids the overfilled look that comes from treating volume as the only measure of success.

Understanding Your Desired Outcome

Consultation starts with what bothers you: lips that have always been thin, lips that have flattened with age, asymmetry, a heavy upper lip, or lipstick bleeding into fine lines. Those are different problems with different solutions.

We assess the lips in relation to the chin, nose and smile line, and look at how the lips move when you talk and smile. Photographs at rest and animated help us plan and let you judge the change objectively later.

What Lip Enhancement Can Achieve

Realistic outcomes include a more defined vermillion border, gentle added volume, improved symmetry, a softened philtrum, correction of downturned corners and smoother lines around the mouth.

What it cannot do is change the underlying dental or bony structure, and heavily filled lips do not read as youthful. Where the concern is mainly texture and fine lines rather than shape, resurfacing or skin boosters may serve you better than filler.

Treatment Modalities for Lip Rejuvenation

Hyaluronic acid filler remains the mainstay, chosen by thickness and flexibility for the specific job: a soft product for hydration and a firmer one for border definition. Results last roughly six to twelve months depending on the product and your metabolism.

Neuromodulator techniques can relax an over-active upper lip or the fine vertical lines that etch with age, and skin boosters or resurfacing can improve the quality of the skin around the mouth. Many plans combine two of these rather than relying on filler alone.

A Holistic Approach to Lip Care

Lips have no oil glands, so they dry faster than the rest of the face. Daily SPF lip protection, a barrier balm and avoiding habitual licking or picking protect both the tissue and your results.

Smoking, dehydration and repeated pursing motions all accelerate perioral lines, and addressing them makes any in-clinic treatment last longer and look better.

FAQ

Everything you need to know.

Most healthy adults are suitable candidates for lip enhancement. However, a thorough consultation is essential to discuss your medical history, any allergies, and current medications to ensure the chosen treatment is safe and appropriate for your individual needs and goals.

To minimise bruising and swelling, we recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements (e.g., Vitamin E, fish oil) for at least one week prior to your treatment, if medically permissible. Alcohol consumption should also be avoided for 24-48 hours before your appointment.

Yes, for safety reasons, we do not perform injectable treatments like Lip Filler or energy-based treatments like LipLase or EXION on individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding. We recommend waiting until after this period to consider lip enhancement.

The best treatment depends entirely on your specific goals. During your consultation, we will assess your lips and discuss whether you seek significant volume (often achieved with Lip Filler), subtle plumping and texture improvement (LipLase or EXION), or a combination approach for comprehensive rejuvenation. We'll tailor a plan just for you.

Aftercare varies slightly by treatment. For Lip Filler, expect some swelling and potential bruising for a few days; apply ice and avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours. For LipLase and EXION, there's generally no downtime, but keeping lips hydrated and protected from sun exposure is always recommended.
